According to the World Footwear Yearbook, over 24 billion pairs of shoes are produced annually (primarily under exploitative conditions) with sneakers accounting for the largest share.
Therefore, most brands will resort to mass producing their products in South Asian factories at insanely low costs by neglecting the safety and rights of their workers at the same time. However, and as you might already know, we don't limit sustainability only to its materials and its minimal carbon footprint. Sustainability for us extends to those behind the manufacturing processes and to those who wear our sneakers.
This situation led us to almost a year of sourcing and analyzing factories around the world until we arrive in Brazil and after several trips and meetings there, we decided to go with Dois Irmãos, literally "two brothers" or "dos hermanos". Located only a few hours away from Porto Alegre and led by Wellington and Federico, Dois Irmãos has both the technology and the social value we were looking for our brand.
Fair Labor. ILO Rules. Care. Respect.
Plus, the closeness of the factory to Buenos Aires where our design and production team is based, allow us to visit them regularly not only to follow up on the development of the sneakers, but also to consolidate our relationship with them, to have a real measurement of the impact of our product, to identify areas of growth and to push us toward even more transparency.
A happy worker makes a great shoe :)
Meet the rest of La Familia :)
